A guide for the top things to do in Byron Bay

By November 2, 2020No Comments

Byron Bay has such a laid back vibe, and everyone is there for a good time with plenty of smiles and laughs to be had. Do you want to find a destination where you can feel comfortable wearing whatever you want?! Shorts, singlets, and thongs… also with 9 incredible beaches that offer some of the country’s best surf and amazing views all day every day, Byron bay is the place for you.

Things to do/see in Byron Bay

1. Get some delicious food or drinks at “The Treehouse”

The Treehouse is a great option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner they are open 7 days a week from 7 am till late. It was an amazing place for us to eat out we did not make a booking although they were so lovely and made room for us. So don’t forget to book if you’re visiting as you don’t want to miss out on their delicious woodfired pizzas, share platters, cocktails, beer, wine, and the most mouthwatering dessert, their sticky date pudding flavors just explode in your mouth, YUM!

2. Eat lunch or breakfast at “The Avocado Hut”

A great healthy option for breakfast or lunch is The Avocado Hut offering a range of delicious options including vegetarian and vegan meals. We absolutely love supporting a small local business that supports the local farmers around the area. This is a must when visiting Byron Bay, you won’t be disappointed!

3. Visit the Cape Byron Lighthouse

The Byron Bay lighthouse is an iconic white tower that stands resolute on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. It was built in the 19th century to protect ships passing along the coast. You have an option to hike or drive, if you decide to drive up to the top there is an $8 parking fee. At the top, you’ll find the Cape Byron Information Centre and a cafe offering food, drinks, and gelato. If your plan on visiting between June and November you’ll be lucky enough to see humpback whales which is an amazing sight to see. It’s very windy at the top, so hold onto your hats!

4. Check out the Byron Bay Markets

Love the local markets?! Trust me, you’ll love the Byron Market held right by the beachside with an incredible variety of shops there to choose some beautiful pieces from clothing, paintings, food and so much more. It’s a perfect location with great music created by talented people around town. A family-friendly market that will surely keep the family entertained.

5. Visit Minyon Falls

Minyon Falls is a must whilst you’re visiting the area (4o minute drive to the top from Byron Bay) with a few different ways to see them, you can either do the big hike loop which will take you up the whole track of the waterfall. Unfortunately, we chose a really hot day so we didn’t do the loop this time but we will be back for sure. We’d highly suggest at least doing the trek down to the base of the falls which is a 2km return trip, make sure you pack your swimmers, to cool off whilst your soaking up that hot Byron sun. If you just want to go and see the falls without hiking you can sure do that, just drive your car right to the top with a 2-minute walk into the lookouts.

6. Visit the beach

Byron Bay, well let’s just say it’s not a trip to Byron without seeing the beach. It’s stunning! There is plenty of beaches to find a little secluded spot to relax or you can stay amongst the crowds to hang out with that epic Byron vibe. There is the boardwalk which you can walk off to many different tracks and get down to the beach, it’s absolutely stunning. We’d highly recommend checking this out and of course, watching the sunrise or sunset whilst you are visiting, it’s so worth it!

Where to stay in Byron Bay

Are you after a gorgeous abode close to the beach, town centre, and everything else? We couldn’t recommend more of where we stayed, Gosammara Apartments. It was a stunning 2 bedroom apartment decked out with beachy decor which made our stay feel like we were so welcomed. A heated pool and spa in the centre of the apartment buildings with a great outdoor BBQ if you’d like the amazing view of the pool whilst your cooking dinner. The management here is unreal, with lots of local knowledge and always willing to help no matter what. I’m sure we can all relate, you want to feel like we have a secure place to keep our vehicle and this defiantly did with undercover locked parking we felt so secure. Great spot for couples, families, friends, or even business trips.

When’s the best time to visit Byron Bay

Our favourite time to visit Byron Bay is between September and November, it’s such a comfortable time to holiday here with beautiful weather and low rainfall around this time of the year. On a budget?! We would suggest visiting between June and August with cheaper accommodation prices and lower flight prices.

We hope you enjoy planning your trip to Byron Bay legends.

Cheers,

Dayne and Cody x
